VAUDE has received five of the ISPO trade fair’s coveted trophies in Munich. The Tettnang-based company received the Eco Achievement Brand Award for its deep commitment to sustainability. The jury was particularly impressed by the Green Shape Core Collection, an entire collection of sustainable products presented by VAUDE at the ISPO. VAUDE received an ISPO Gold Award for the innovative Trail Spacer backpack with a 3D knitted back. Another three ISPO Awards went to the innovative and sustainable products of VAUDE’s Green Shape Core Collection. The ISPO, which took place from January 28 to 31 in Munich, attracts about 80,000 trade visitors from all over the world each year.

VAUDE has made a bold statement regarding the sustainable development of functional products. The company’s holistic approach hasn’t resulted in any single product, but an entire cross-category collection. Honesty and fairness are at the heart of the VAUDE brand and its core business, within its supply chain and in delivering sustainable innovation to a broad audience. In honoring this strong performance, the jury would like to motivate VAUDE’s interdisciplinary design and product development team to continue along this path,” read the jury statement at the Eco Achievement Brand Award ceremony.

Antje von Dewitz, VAUDE CEO, is delighted with the award: “This is a great tribute to our commitment to sustainability, which is passionately supported by our entire team. Our Green Shape Core Collection impressively proves that sustainability promotes innovation.” For this collection, VAUDE has developed innovative materials that are high performing and environmentally friendly, while at the same time offer solutions for global environmental challenges such as microplastics pollution. In this fashion, the company has emphasized its pioneering position and demonstrated the scope of possibility for the future of outdoor gear.

Green Shape Core Collection – three ISPO Awards. With the Green Shape Core Collection VAUDE offers authentically sustainable gear for a wide variety of outdoor activities. The collection includes 19 products — apparel, shoes and backpacks — that are designed for a broad range of outdoor activities. With a natural look and feel, they unite function with a feel-good factor and long service life. About 90 % of the diverse textile materials used in the production process are biobased, recycled or purely natural materials. Unconventional, renewable raw materials such as cow’s milk, wood and castor oil are also used. No less than three innovative products from the Green Shape Core Collection were honored with an ISPO Award: the Green Core M backpack, the Green Core Mid shoe and the Green Core Fleece Jacket. For this fleece jacket VAUDE uses a newly developed material with Tencel fiber, which is completely biodegradable and does not release any microplastics that could end up in our seas. The Collection will make its debut to a specialist audience inJanuary 2018 at the Ethical Fashion Show in Berlin as well as at the ISPO in Munich. Starting in August 2018, it will be available at specialist sports retailers.
ISPO Gold Award for an innovative backpack with 3D-knit construction. For the lightweight and innovative Trail Spacer 8 backpack, VAUDE has developed a seamless knitted back section that – like a vest – adapts perfectly to the person wearing it. The stretch knit construction not only offers ambitious outdoor athletes optimum support, it also offers comfort, freedom of movement and ventilation. This is also what convinced the ISPO jury, which selected the Trail Spacer 8 for the Gold Award in the backpack category: “The 3D knit construction ensures a perfect fit and good ventilation on your back. A lightweight pack for a variety of sports that conserves resources in the manufacturing process.” said Edith Zuschmann, jury member, long-distance runner and blogger.
