Hanwag presents the "Next Step Project"

Published by Mountainblog on .

Sustainability means satisfying today’s requirements without a negative impact on the development and needs of future generations. The“Next Step” project for Hanwag aims to achieve this goal in the long term. Without doubt it is an ambitious goal and the brand has long way to go. However, some progress have been made and the next objectives are on the horizon.

Where sustainability is concerned, the three key issues are:

  • Reducing CO2 emissions. Hanwag produces all our footwear (except two models) in Europe. The short distances make a vast contribution to reducing the carbon footprint.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility. Because production facilities are located in Vierkirchen (Bavaria), Croatia, Romania, and Hungary Hanwag has total control over manufacturing processes. They do not need to worry that employees are being exploited.
  • Avoiding waste. Hanwag footwear is extremely durable and all new models can be re-soled (except for two new children’s models).
