Here we go! Dates and speakers of this year’s  International Mountain Summit (IMS) are confirmed.

From 9th to 15th October 2017 Brixen will be once again the world capital of the mountain. South Tyrol, in the heart of the Alps, and above all the city of Brixen, as a “gateway to the Dolomites”, proclaimed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is the authentic and ideal place for this multiform Mountain Festival. The world’s top mountaineers of yesterday and today will meet right here on the occasion of the International Mountain Summit®. It is a meeting opportunity and a contest of ideas for the big international players, best mountaineers and climbers. The IMS intertwines different issues, generations and points of view. A multiplicity of form, but one substance shared by all guests: love for the mountain.

The concept of the International Mountain Summit is as simple as being unique. Take excitement for the mountain in all its facets, mix well with encounters, the so-called “Abklettern” with South Tyrolean specialties and live music spices it up, and garnish it all with scene conversations, meetings and multimedia shows of extraordinary Mountain people. The result is the motto “Meet.Mountain.People.Soul“. All presented thanks to the simultaneous translations in the three official languages of the festival: Italian, German and English.

The IMS will open with the world premiere of the movie “The Holy Mountain“. The protagonists of the evening Reinhold Messner, Oswald Oelz and Wolfgang Nariz tell the dramatic experiences at Ama Dablam, a peak in the Everest region. The festival’s evening program ends on Saturday with the IMS Photo Night, in the first part devoted entirely to photographers of the IMS Photo Contest 2017, of which you can read some more details in the attached press release. The award ceremony will be followed by a multimedia show by American climber Alex Honnold, “Alone on the Wall”, considered unanimously as the best extreme climber in the world. He is the only person to have free-solo climbed El Capitan in Yosemite National Park and has broken a number of speed records.

These are just some of the protagonists of the October festival.
