From July 24 to July 26, 2015 the second edition of the ZUGSPITZ TRAILRUN CHALLENGE will take place and will again offer all possible facets: From the VIKING kids run and the City Sprint to the half marathon, the SCOTT Rock the top – VERTICAL CHALLENGE and the short distance to the SCOTT Rock the Top – MARATHON. The ZUGSPITZ TRAILRUN CHALLENGE offers something for everyone – for extreme runners, trail running beginners and street runners, for kids and adults, for speedsters and epicures.
The highlight of the weekend will be the SCOTT Rock the Top – MARATHON, a marathon leading to the top of the highest of the Wetterstein Mountains (about 3000 meters). On 42.195 kilometers from the town of Ehrwald to the top of the mountain Zugspitze, the runners will have to master an ascent of 3825 meters in altitude and a descent of 1853 meters in altitude. Germany’s highest and hardest marathon will bring some of the participants to their limits and it is THE challenge for all marathon runners and sky racers!
Furthermore, with the half marathon over 22.3 kilometers and 1032 meters in altitude, the mountain run (SCOTT Rock the Top – VERTICAL CHALLENGE) with 15.8 kilometers and an ascent over challenging 2127 meters in altitude and the short distance (10.1 km and 554 meters in altitude), the ZUGSPITZ TRAILRUN CHALLENGE offers even three more routes in order to indulge runners from all performance classes.
The prelude to the trail run festival will however be made by the smallest ones at the VIKING kids run on Friday afternoon.
Kids at the age of 3 to 13 years can show what they are made of on the 1.8 km long route through the center of the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
After that, the City Sprint (1.8 km, 40 meters in altitude) will follow. Together with the SCOTT Rock the Top – MARATHON on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday, this trail can also be run as part of a triple rating.
