COCHISE Tecnica <br />Winter 2016.17

The short hike up to the summit is worth it. You click into your bindings and your skis instinctively head down into the virgin snow of the shute. With rock faces to your left and right, powerful precision turns are the order of the day. Fully focused, you immerse yourself in joy. The kind of joy that the new Tecnica Cochise was made for. When it comes to dynamic freeride boots, four buckles offer the best stability, precision and power transmission to the ski. At the same time, the fi t has to be good enough for long days out in the backcountry. And of course the walk mode must be comfortable on the ascent. The ski boot specialists in Tecnica’s research and development department have succeeded in combining these qualities for the fi rst time, in a pure-bred freeride boot.

New shell construction
The demands on modern freeride boots are many and varied. They must be lightweight, perform well both uphill and downhill and be customizable. The Cochise’s new Light-Frame-Concept combines a weight saving shell construction with two and a half times stiffer shell material in the sole and shin regions. This increases direct power transfer to the ski and supports the foot on steep ground or on long runs. And should the shell require some finishing touches, it can easily be adjusted and customized thanks to Tecnica’s C.A.S. Technology.

Four buckles for maximum stability
Just four clicks and feet are safely buckled into the anatomically shaped shell of the new Cochise with optimised heel fi t. This is because four buckles guarantee superior stability and power transfer. With 20% off the weight each buckle is optimised and even on long ascents presents no hindrance. With Auto-Distance-Hooks the buckles also make it easier to put the boots on and take them off, because they remain at a 45° angle when open without catching on the shell.

It’s all in the liner
Just like the shell, the liner has also been slimmed down. Equipped with a water resistant membrane, it keeps out damp and moisture yet is also breathable. The thinner spoiler and race oriented, removable tongue, together with an anatomically preshaped C.A.S. liner system (Custom Adaptive Shape) make it a liner that fits immediately – straight out of the box. For those who still like to fi ne-tune their boots, the thermoformable C.A.S. material in the ankle zone will get the absolute best comfort and fi t out of the liner.

Hike mode in a fl ash
So what if the next powder run is a hike away? Simply switch over to hike mode. To be able to take bigger steps and therefore get high even faster, the Cochise has an active angle of 42°. It also has an integrated mount for low-tech bindings. This means freeride skis can quickly be swapped for touring skis.

Special shape and comfort women’s model
Any woman who regularly freerides in the backcountry will tell you that warm feet can save the day. That is why the Italian boot specialists Tecnica have opted for temperature-regulating and breathable Merino wool for the toe box of their new Cochise women’s model. In addition, the shape and height of the upper is perfectly adapted to the anatomy of women’s feet.
