VAUDE
Brentour Backpack
Summer 2017

The new favorite for long-distance trekking is named Brentour and it offers hikers tailwind. VAUDE’s ventilated suspension system, the AeroflexX+, is making its debut. It allows cool air to circulate along the entire length of your back and can be individually adjusted to torso length.

Backpacks with ventilated mesh backs are popular with hikers and cyclists because they’re truly comfortable and they keep sweating to a minimum. The backpack specialist VAUDE was one of the first manufacturers to bring this type of ventilated suspension system to the market. However, until now, the steel spring frame of the Aeroflex construction has only been suitable for lighter gear on day trips. No more – because VAUDE has further developed the system as AeroflexX+.

The Brentour with 45+10 liters (women’s model with 42+10 liters) is a superbly-ventilated backpack for longer hikes with heavier gear such as on long-distances trails and hut tours. The new AeroflexX+ suspension system with a reinforced frame design allows cool air to circulate along the entire back and can be individually adjusted to torso length. On one hand, that’s good for your body’s microclimate and very comfortable to wear! And, it can deal with heavier loads of over 10 kg, remaining 3-dimensionally stable and rigid. The developers paid special attention to the hipbelt and gave it two different components. The lower section is more rigid and allows direct load transfer to the hips; the upper section with soft padding features flexible hip-hugging comfort.

VAUDE chose a very robust 400 D diamond ripstop nylon distinguished by a textile appearance for the primary material. All in all, the Brentour is designed to last – both in materials and workmanship. The height-adjustable lid offers storage space for things that have to be easily accessible and is completely detachable. It can be used separately as a hippack, for instance, when the hiker takes a detour into town to restock supplies. Other practical features: additional front access to the main compartment, two outer stretch pockets, attachment options for trekking poles and – when worse comes to worst – an integrated rain cover.

After a few days on the trail, hiker and pack start to feel as one. VAUDE Product Manager Florian Schmid, himself a passionate long-distance hiker, has found his new favourite and sums it up: “It can handle a lot and ensures a good microclimate!” He’s also referring to the resource-saving and environmentally friendly production of the bluesign® system, which spares the macro-climate as well. VAUDE takes the “leave no footprint behind” rule seriously, in product manufacturing as well.
