The organizers and two of what are probably the best-known figures in the trail running scene have joined forces and come up with something special for the fifth anniversary of the SALOMON 4 TRAILS: A new exciting course starting in Berchtesgaden (Germany) with the final finish in Maria Alm, Austria! This new edition of the SALOMON 4 TRAILS holds a special meaning for Stephan Repke alias Gripmaster and Philipp Reiter (also known as Zauberlehrling, sorcerer’s apprentice). After all, they planned and photographed all the routes themselves, ran them multiple times, and sweated and nursed a blister or two – all told, blood, sweat and tears a plenty!

Ready at last July 8 to 11, 2015: The SALOMON 4 TRAILS will be entering its fifth round, celebrating its first small anniversary … and will demand a thing or two from the participants. Once more, they will be called upon to conquer hundreds of meters of elevation change and a distance of around 150 km (93 mi) in four stages. Ambitious trail runners, pros and well-trained recreational athletes, old hands, and beginners will take up the challenge again in 2015 and overcome geographical borders and personal limits. So the starting pistol for the first stage of the SALOMON 4 TRAILS will be fired in Berchtesgaden (Germany) for the first time, with the fourth and final finish in Maria Alm in Austria on July 11th. Sorry, but we are not yet able to announce the other destination towns for organizational reasons.

There is one thing certain though: different from previous years, the participants will only be running in Germany and Austria this time. But it is widely known that these two countries have an abundance of beautiful trails as well. “Very challenging and passionate, a real banger,” is how Gripmaster himself describes the first stage starting in Berchtesgaden.

And the Zauberlehrling raves: “The start, overshadowed by the majestic “King Watzmann” mountain, steep ascents up magnificent peaks, racy downhills through enchanting forests, charming destination towns with a historic flair, sheer endless narrow paths with tree roots – the SALOMON 4 Trails 2015 is sure to be a fantastic experience, and I am already looking forward to running around the Berchtesgaden national park with all of you next July!

The course against the breathtaking backdrop of mountains is rich in variety and ample reward for the hardships endured by the long-distance runners.

Aside from physical and mental fitness and surefootedness, the runners will also need excellent coordination. It will take their whole repertoire of running skills to master the steep climbs and navigate the narrow trails including sections with drop-offs. The trials and tribulations of the four days, though, will all be forgotten at the Finisher Party in Maria Alm at the latest!

Fans, friends and family will also find many attractions. In all five of the finishing towns, there will be numerous opportunities to be active besides the Expo with the latest trends and products by well-known manufacturers.

We are expecting to open registration for the anniversary edition of the SALOMON 4 TRAILS at the end of November, 2014. By then, we will be able to disclose the destination towns and provide more details and pictures of the course along with news from Gripmaster and Zauberlehrling.
