The countdown continues without any pause: the sixth edition of the Südtirol Ultra Skyrace will be launched in exactly 100 days. During the weekend between 27 and 29 July, all eyes will be fixed on the popular extreme mountain race along the high “Hufeisentour” path in Bolzano and in the Sarentino Alps area. Participants can choose between four different routes: the “classical” Südtirol Ultra Skyrace (121 km/7554 m difference in height), the Skyrace (69/3930), the Sky Marathon (42.2/2863) and the new Sky Trail (27/1027), ideal for “new” runners.

Just over three months before the start of the classic route, 121 kilometres and 7554 meters of difference in height, scheduled for Friday, 27th July at 08:00 p.m. in Piazza Walther in Bolzano, not only the preparations are underway, but there is much more to get ready. Registrations are pouring in at full speed too. And the updated figures bring about much satisfaction for the organisers assisting Josef “Pippo” Mair, the head of the organising committee. In fact, 295 extreme athletes have already submitted their registration for the three-day event to this date.

With these numbers we have already exceeded last year’s registrations by 10%. What makes me especially pleased is the international spectrum of the participants. In fact, athletes from at least 24 different nations have registered so far. This confirms the fact that our trail draws attention worldwide and attracts many people to South Tyrol and among the legendary peaks of the Sarentino Alps. And this, too, is ultimately one of the objectives we pursue with the Südtirol Ultra Skyrace”, explains Mair.

Sportler, La Sportiva and the Raiffeisen banks are the main sponsors. It is also a pleasure that the local economy supports the event. The Alto Adige umbrella brand, Sportler, La Sportiva and the Raiffeisen banks are supporting the extreme race as main partners again this year. “The other sponsors are our faithful supporters too. Nevertheless, I will never be tired of stressing that new partners and sponsors are always welcome. An event like ours, involving the participation of 800 athletes and over 400 volunteers, can take place – and maybe even grow – only with the help of the local economy”, says Mair, the head of the organising committee.
