A passion for the outdoor becomes even more international.

Tom Ballard, the English mountain climber joins the Ferrino Ambassador Team.
The young mountain climber from the Peak District is specialised in mountaineering, free climbing and extreme downhill skiing. Tom has a log of more than 90 alpine climbs (all of them in free solo), 150 climbs on the Dolomites (out of which 137 in free solo) and more than 70 extreme skiing descents.

By joining the Ferrino team, the English mountain climber highlights the interest of the Italian Company in establishing a group of Ambassadors from all over the world, spreading its outlook beyond national boundaries.

Ballard shall use some of FERRINO’s equipment which is amongst the most advanced in the mountaineering world such as: the Legend 3 tent, the Nightec 800 sleeping bag, the Cybersafe 30 backpack and climbing ropes.

The relationship Tom has with Ferrino began a long time ago, from his childhood memories when he spent many nights with his mother in Ferrino tents at base camps. As a matter of fact, Tom is the son of Alison Hargreaves, the great English climber who died too young. She always relied on Ferrino equipment for her expeditions in the Himalayas and her many successful climbs in the Alps.

“Still today Tom uses Ferrino’s equipment which belonged to his mother and we were moved to discover the confidence and attachment he feels toward our brand, which allowed us to exchange competences since our first encounter. We are sure such relationship will be very profitable for both of us” (Anna Ferrino).

After having spent last winter in a tent in Val di Fassa, at present Tom is in Switzerland to train all summer, while in autumn he wants to come back to the Italian Alps to carry out new projects.

Today, as in 1870 – the year in which Ferrino was established – our Company gives its maximum effort in the development of technical products alongside its Ambassadors and the Alpine guides. All of the products are designed and developed entirely in Italy and tested all over the Alps in order to ensure maximum quality and reliability.
