Versatile Italian athlete, Nico Valsesia is now busy on his Aconcagua 7,000 project In the wake of his world record, which saw him go from Genoa to the summit of Mont Blanc, in a record time of 16 hours and 35 minutes, Nico is currently preparing for his “ACONCAGUA 7000” challenge to try and establish the world record for a positive difference in altitude.

Ferrino is with the team in Argentina during the acclimatisation stage. Sleeping bags, tents, backpacks and accessories to support an expedition that will see them travel from the sea to the mountains, from the Ocean to the Andes, and from 0 to 6,962 metres.

This route is the sole place in the world to permit a difference in altitude of some 7,000 metres over a length of just 250 kilometres and able to provide the world record as the non-stop route with the greatest positive difference in altitude over the smallest number of kilometres.

As well as being an extremely important sporting feat, this record attempt is also a chance to travel and discover countries, panoramas and cultures that are just full of interest in the Aconcagua National Park area.

Nico will be followed by a qualified team of experts: as well as the medical and organisational staff, he will also be joined by well-known Italian actor, Giovanni Storti from the trio Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo.

There will be real-time updates on Nico Valsesia’s blog www.nicovalsesia.com and on his Facebook page www.facebook.com/nico.valsesia
