percorsi mountainbike val gardena

Bike Holidays in Val Gardena? From June onwards, the valley transforms into a paradise for cyclists, with spectacular routes amidst the Dolomites.

Whether it’s a relaxing excursion or a challenging workout, choosing a bike to explore Val Gardena (Italy) is a perfect choice. It’s sustainable, healthy, and allows you to reach breathtaking views accessible only by pedaling.

Val Gardena is recognized as an Approved Bike Area in South Tyrol, with 22 excursions and over 600 km of dedicated routes for mountain bikes, e-bikes, and road bikes. Ortisei, S. Cristina, and Selva di Val Gardena offer adrenaline-pumping trails and flow trails accessible to everyone, as well as guides and bike schools ideal even for beginners.

MTB enthusiasts can challenge themselves with the famous Sellaronda MTB Track TOUR, two routes (clockwise and counterclockwise) that circle the Sella Group, offering spectacular views, including the Marmolada. Those who prefer flow trails can opt for the six tracks of the Val Gardena Trail Arena, easily reachable with the Trail Arena Ticket and the lifts.

For those wanting to take their first steps on a bike, the Skill Park Palmer in Ortisei is perfect for learning technique, safety, and control, suitable for both children and adults.

Even road bike lovers will find their ideal destination in Val Gardena: the paved roads and iconic Dolomite passes offer unique experiences, especially during less busy periods (June, early July, and September).

It mainly follows the Derjon river and passes through the village centers (Ortisei, S. Cristina, and Selva Val Gardena), offering the opportunity to stop and explore these characteristic villages and enjoy their events and attractions. It can be traveled in both directions, and there are several rest areas equipped with benches, picnic tables, and playgrounds.

Bike Events in Val Gardena

There are two dates cyclists should mark on their calendars: Saturday, June 7 and Saturday, September 13, 2025 (the autumn edition).

The Sellaronda Bike Day is a special event during which the roads of the Sellaronda are closed to motor vehicles and reserved exclusively for cyclists. The total length of the tour is 53 kilometers, and those who complete the entire route conquer a total elevation gain of over 1,600 meters.

It is not a cycling race—there are no participation fees or time measurements. With the roads around the Sella Group closed to traffic, cyclists of all ages have the chance to enjoy a beautiful bike ride with stunning views. The road closure will take place from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM (for the September edition at 13th September, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM).
