The Swiss athlete, Sam Anthamatten will represent La Sportiva in the free-touring segment and contribute to product development with the R&D team.
La Sportiva, the Val di Fiemme–based company and global leader in the production of technical footwear and apparel for mountain sports, is proud to announce that Sam Anthamatten has joined the brand’s ski mountaineering team. Originally from Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn, Anthamatten grew up in an environment where the mountains were not only a playground but also a true training ground. Born in 1986, he approached mountaineering from a young age and became a certified mountain guide at just 24.
Today he is widely recognized as one of the most complete and versatile athletes on the international scene, moving naturally between ski mountaineering, technical alpinism and freeride.
Throughout his career he has completed numerous high-profile achievements, including an intense series of ascents on El Capitan in Yosemite, carried out in a rope team with his brother Simon.
Alongside his alpine and high-altitude projects, Anthamatten has also gained experience in competitive environments, taking part in the 2011 Freeride World Tour, where he finished second overall in his debut season. His experiences and deep knowledge of the alpine environment reflect an authentic and conscious approach to the mountains, fully aligned with La Sportiva’s vision.

In addition to his role as an athlete, Sam Anthamatten will actively collaborate with the Research & Development team in Ziano di Fiemme, providing concrete feedback to support the design and
refinement of innovative equipment, further strengthening the connection between real-world mountain use and product development.
