Blackyak has won a total of 16 ISPO Awards in recent years. However, the family-run long-established company is not resting on its laurels: the autumn/winter collection 17/18 is intended to further expand its role as a pioneer of innovative outdoor clothing. As a highlight, BlackYak introduces the new Midshell™ category to the market.

Every product in the new BlackYak collection has one purpose: it solves a problem of everyday outdoor sports. In the winter collection, this means that all products protect against either dry or wet cold. With Midshell™, BlackYak introduces a clothing category that sets new standards in comfort and performance. To mark this major step forward in outdoor clothing performance, BlackYak has secured the name Midshell™ for this product category.

Since BlackYak has been working successfully with Gore-Tex® since 1994, it is hardly surprising that the brand with headquarters in Seoul/South Korea and Munich/Germany is one of a limited number of brands working with the revolutionary Gore® Stretch Technology in the winter of 18/19. The new technology is used in critical areas of the new Brangus Jacket and Brangus Pants and provides an exceptional range of movement.

With the introduction of BlackYak Barrier Technology™ the company has brought new levels of performance to traditionally weak areas in outdoor jacket design. The BlackYak Barrier Technology™ reduces the moisture ingress through from the main garment openings around the waist, cuffs and hood. In addition a newly developed cuff adjustment tab fastener significantly reduces the effect of pilling in the cuff area and is shaped so that the cuffs always close securely. Both technologies were developed by the European BlackYak team, based in Munich.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
The new Midshell™ category includes the Hariana Jacket and Hariana Pants as well as the Modicana Jacket. All products impress with their comfort and incomparable breathability in the range of 3-layer jackets. The Hariana Jacket uses a 3L laminate construction from W.L.GORE & Associates to achieve the highest level of vapor transfer to maintain user comfort while providing excellent rain protection. The Hariana Jacket comes with a detachable Powder Skirt making it the ideal garment where comfort is required over absolute rain protection. The Hariana Pants are equipped with an innovative, removable suspender system that provides the user with additional wearing comfort.

The Brangus Jacket and Brangus Pants set new standards in freedom of movement for 3-layer jackets and trousers. This is made possible by the new Gore® Stretch Technology and the special construction of the jacket and trousers. The waterproof jacket is additionally equipped with the BlackYak Barrier Technology™ and the new Velcro system. Newly designed chest pockets do not let water into the inside of the jacket even when the zipper is open. BlackYak launches another world first with the Niata Jacket: It is the first down jacket with stretch. The panels, which are padded with G-Loft®, are mounted vertically and thus adapt ergonomically to the movement of outdoor athletes, without heat loss due to the compression of down chambers. In combination with the proven Mesh Box-Wall down chambers construction, the Niata Jacket keeps you warm even on particularly cold days.

COLOURS
The designs of BlackYak are reduced – and yet unique. The collections feature tonal logos, allusions to the contours of yaks and the colourful connection to the Himalayas. Four colour stories for women and four for men are available in autumn/winter 18/19. In addition to the signature colour black, the men’s collections also feature green, blue and red colours with tasteful names such as Twist of Lime, Snorkel Blue and Chili Pepper. For the ladies, black is complemented with turquoise, reddish and yellow tones. Sounding Biscay Bay, Pureed Pumpkin and Mango Mojito will certainly enrich the winter of 18/19.

MATERIALS
When it comes to materials, BlackYak relies on its proven partners. The outer materials are made of robust CORDURA® or waterproof Gore-Tex® materials. A new, waterproof Windstopper® is used in the new MIDSHELL™ category. The insulation materials used are G-Loft®, Primaloft®, Polartec® Alpha® and goose down with certificate of proof (RDS). The warming fleece are made by Polartec® and Cordura®.

NEW COLLECTION STRUCTURE
All BlackYak collections are divided into three Yak lines. In the Pali Line you will find all garments that protect against the cold, no matter if wet or dry. These are the products for the winter. The Sibu Line includes clothing that protects against warm and wet or warm and dry conditions. These products are made for the summer. Maiwa Line apparel supports both the Pali and Sibu line products – these are the essentials of the BLACKYAK collections. New for Autumn/Winter 18/19 is that all garments bear the name of a yak. In this way, BlackYak Global consistently underlines its roots with the origin of the brand.
