OutDry Technology for Gloves: Watch the Video Presentations

Published by Mountainblog on .

Matteo Morlacchi (General Manager OutDry Technologies) presents the OutDry Technology for gloves.

For OutDry, the membrane is only one of the components of a wider system. In fact, at the heart of the OutDry structure, the OutDry patented lamination process allows the membrane to perfectly fit and seal the closed footwear outer upper or the glove shell, eliminating all possible water entry points and really keeping water out of your footwear and gloves.

In gloves. The traditional method of waterproofing gloves is to use a floating insert. As with footwear this method of construction leaves a cavity between the outer shell material and the floating insert. The traditional construction quickly gets heavy when wet as the water collates in the cavity between the waterproof barrier and the outer shell material. Again breathability is compromised and gloves take an eternity to dry out, after saturation.

With the OutDry process the membrane and the shell material becomes one. Having no cavity for the water to collate in means that gloves do not become too heavy when wet, breathability is not compromised, gloves dry out much quicker and the thermal properties of the glove are not compromised. This is supports enhanced comfort to the user.
