LA SPORTIVA – Sardinia Bloc Scouting: let yourself be guided!

Published by Mountainblog on .

La Sportiva presents the results of last autumn’s Clean & Climb project that has seen some of the company’s best athletes and ambassadors committed to bringing new life to the bouldering areas of Gallura. Forty-nine boulders are explained through the images and words of the protagonists, in a pocket-sized and digital guide!

All those who associate Sardinia with a sea of white beaches and huge limestone walls, might start to think again. To prove it, last November, Pietro Dal Pra and the team of athletes and ambassadors from La Sportiva set off to discover the bouldering areas of Gallura: Nalle Hukkataival, Anthony Gullsten, Silvio Reffo, Michele Caminati, Cody Roth, Fabian Buhl, James Pearson and Caroline Ciavaldini spent their time preparing for winter, on the huge granite boulders haphazardly strewn over the northern tip of the island.

Sparked from an idea by Pietro Dal Pra, which was immediately supported by La Sportiva, the Sardinian adventure was originally conceived with the aim of raising public awareness to a different type of “vertical” attendance in the region, leading to the creation of a climbing guide devoted entirely to the area and an impressive promotional video divided in four “not to be missed” episodes.

During the clean & climb operation, forty-nine blocks of all shapes and difficulties have been brought to light and made available to meet the ability of each climber, distributed over seven different sectors and four different areas where climbing potential is still immense. All areas are easily reached in less than an hour’s drive from Olbia…as you can discover in the official guide to the boulders.

In the hope of having provided the reader with the right tools to be able to continue the adventure that La Sportiva has only just started, the climbing guide will be presented to the public in two versions (English and Italian) during major outdoor events in 2014, with the possibility however, of being downloaded and viewed online on the company website or on www.lasportiva.com and www.issuu.com.
