European outdoor summit 2022

Delegate registration for the European Outdoor Summit (EOS), which takes place on the 6th & 7th October at the Impérial Palace in Annecy, France, is now open. Book your delegate place HERE.

Inspired by recent events of the last couple of years and by the Yin Yang principle of chaos within order and order within chaos – how the exchange between these can work together towards creating a greater balance in our lives, our work, and the planet. The overall content of this year’s summit has been developed under the heading ‘Finding Balance and Success Within Disorder’.

We are pleased to announce just some of this year’s superb line-up of speakers. Professor Jason Hickel, economic anthropologist, opens the EOS with the difficult yet essential discussion around degrowth. Traditional economics defines success in terms of growth, but ever-increasing demand and production are fundamentally at odds with our climate and environmental efforts. What is degrowth, why is it necessary if we are to stop a full-scale climate/ecological breakdown, and how we can approach it as a sector?

Jason HickelKerry Murphy, Founder of The Fabricant, who sold the world’s first digital-only one-of-a-kind dress on the blockchain for $9500, asks the question – Is 2025 the year physical clothing becomes obsolete? By incorporating the production-on-demand model, from gathering data around desirability and market feasibility before garments are made, and so reducing over-stocking, physical samples, or the creation of unpopular colourways, can virtual clothing be part of the solution?

For obvious reasons many of the discussions will cover the impact of what we do on our planet. Changes in Policy will be addressed by Jérome Pero from FESI, whilst Rupert Stuart Smith – Research associate in Climate Science and the Oxford Sustainable Law Programme, will present the latest science, alignment of the Paris goals and the implications this has for corporate strategy, target setting and financial risks.

The EOG is also pleased to announce Dometic as new Champion Sponsors of the Summit. Rasmus Jarvinen, Dometic’s Global Head of Business Development Outdoor, said: We are proud to collaborate with EOG for the upcoming Summit in Annecy. Being a fairly new member of EOG, we are looking forward to connect with other European Outdoor brands and executives, share thoughts and inspiration. We see how the definition of “Outdoor” is broadening where younger generations are not only looking for extreme outdoor experiences but also a more inclusive, comfortable and social outdoor activity. This is the area where we as Dometic Outdoor want to play and allow these younger generations to enjoy the outdoors with ease and comfort, and bring them into the industry.”

Offering excellent value for money, the EOS is for senior executives. The ticket price includes a full two-day programme of speakers, lunch and refreshments on both days, activities, and networking evening.

There are still some discounted rooms available at the Imperial Palace – Contact reservations at reservation@imperialpalace.fr and quote ‘European Outdoor Summit 6-7.10.2022’
