LOWA: Keeping your feet warm next winter

Published by Mountainblog on .

For autumn/winter 2013/14, LOWA has focused in particular on two areas: Cold Weather Boots and the Kids Collection. But before we discuss those, let’s take a look at a special launch from the heritage shoemaker of alpine and outdoor footwear.

On the occasion of its 90th birthday, which of course will be appropriately celebrated and commemorated by the Bavarian company, LOWA will unveil a specially designed, limited edition model of the top-selling classic Renegade boot. Delivery is set for early May 2013. Using the anniversary edition boot as a theme, LOWA will also launch a Germany-wide display window competition. As a part of that, end-consumers who choose to buy an anniversary edition Renegade will also receive a small thank-you gift.

Sturdy winter outsoles

An especially important segment for LOWA again for winter 2013/14 will be the Cold Weather Boots, which score with their perfect fit, highest quality and convincing function. But absolutely new from LOWA is the newly developed G+ winter outsole that is especially grippy and slip resistant on treacherous terrain. For it, LOWA has come up with a rubber blend of Kautschuk with Tencel® fibres, that together have a superbly well-proven tread profile. This new development will be used in the women’s and men’s model of the Yukon Ice GTX®.

The broad spectrum of LOWA winter boots ranges from styles that are well suited for snowshoe treks and wintry outdoor adventures, to classic winter pieces great for lengthy walkabouts on snow days, the unavoidable need for snow shoveling, or casual sledding outings. The line also includes stylish boots for wintry city shopping expeditions or to wear when heading to work when it’s icy, snowy or slushy.

Lambswool is in

As a part of this, LOWAis also focusing on use of the comfortably warm GORE-TEX® Partelana insulated lining, which is guaranteed to keep feet dry and provides cosy temperature regulation for your feet. LOWA has also expanded its use of lambswool in a number of styles. This natural material keeps feet warm and is still on trend for the coming season. Striking too is playful uses of the boot shaft height. The Jetzendorf-based company offers a broad spectrum, with everything from low-, ¾- and mid-cut styles, to ankle- and calf-high styles, all the way to high-cut shafts that tuck right up under the knee.

Quality for kids

In Kids Collection styles, the emphasis is on anatomically specific lasts made just for kids to give growing feet room to move. Most kids footwear is offered up to size 42, and parents enjoy the high quality that guarantees footwear lasts a long time. LOWA has also focused nearly across the entire collection on the use of the warm and waterproof GORE-TEX® Partelana insulated lining. In addition, designers find it important that the look of the footwear appeals to the tastes of boys and girls. Still, the styles for older children do take their cue from the corresponding adult models. There’s no lack of boots with the look of sneakers or the especially popular Scooter styles. Every style is without exception made for wintry conditions. And all are well suited for frolicking outdoors, snowball fights, sledding outings, etc., Plus, they also look great for school days and when chilling or hanging out with friends.
