VAUDE
Bracket Touring Backpack
Summer 2018

Bracket – the newest bike backpack line VAUDE has developed for enduro and touring bikers. An ergonomically constructed back panel ensures enhanced pack stability with high freedom of movement. A wide hipbelt provides extra stability and works as a compression strap as well. All five models bear the VAUDE Green Shape Label, which labels them as eco-friendly, functional products made from sustainable materials.

Depending on tour length and needed packing capacity, VAUDE offers various models including a special women’s model with 16 liters, and three men’s models with a choice between 10, 16 and 22 liters of packing volume. The largest model, Bracket Xalps 28, is designed for enduro riders and mountain bikers who plan on longer routes like a multi-day transalpine tour. All five models feature the newly developed, slightly arched Ergonomic Movement Panel (EMP) back. This stabilizes the carrying load and increases the pack’s overall stability. The lightweight construction allows for forward movement as well as rotational movement in the upper torso area, for example, while maneuvering steep curves.

Transalpine Backpack: Bracket Xalps 28. From North to South?! No matter which direction your compass points you in – the full featured Bracket Xalps 28 model has what you need to take on the ultimate challenge – the Trans-Alp route. A perfect, body-hugging fit and best ventilation are guaranteed with the Vent Active Bike full contact suspension system in combination with the unique hip belt construction. This is attached to the outer edges of the front of the pack and then wrapped around tightly like a compression strap, pulling the pack’s point of gravity in towards the back. The comfortable Ergonomic Movement Panel (EMP) in the back stabilizes the carrying load and offers enough torsional movement on steep curvy trails. The backpack is divided into three compartments: a large, color contrasting main compartment with a separate dividing zip that is also accessible from the bottom. An extra compartment for your hydration bladder that lets you keep it separate from the rest of your gear. A front compartment that features a removable tool compartment, so it is quick at hand when you need to do a road repair. Along with a softly padded pocket for sunglasses and other fragile valuables, the pack features two small pockets on the hip belt, an extra rain cover and reflective elements for enhanced riding safety.

EMP back panel. The EMP back panel combined with the Vent Active Bike full body-contact suspension system provides close fitting, firm pack stability. An airflow tunnel between the two back padding segments as well as die-cut padding provides optimal ventilation close to the body. In order to keep material use done to a minimum, the cutout material is used in the ergonomic padding of the shoulder straps. The wings of the wide hip belt are attached to the front edges of the pack and are then wrapped around to close tightly in front with a Velcro closure. The hip belt is made from stretch material so it works as an additional compression strap keeping the point of gravity close and low at the rider’s back. All Bracket packs feature a lineup of best basic details, including well-organized, thoughtfully placed pockets and compartments, a removable tool compartment, helmet holder, integrated rain cover as well as reflective elements.

Backpacks in Green Shape. Just as important as performance is for VAUDE, so are a product’s environmental compatibility and the conditions of its manufacturing. Behind the in-house Green Shape Label is a comprehensive catalogue of criteria that must be met if a product is to bear this label. In the backpack segment, this continues to be a major challenge for VAUDE as a large number of components and materials are used. All primary materials used in the Bracket backpacks are certified in accordance with the bluesign® system. This regulates and controls for the environmentally friendly and resource conserving manufacturing of the materials. The polyester used consists of 50%-recycled materials. These are garnered from recycled PET bottles. The PET bottles are collected, purified, ground and processed to form granulate that is then melted and spun into polyester yarn. For eco-friendly, water-shedding protection on the outside of the backpacks, VAUDE uses Eco Finish, a PFC-free waterproofing treatment that does not contain any harmful fluorocarbons. If the rain refuses to let up, then an integrated rain cover can be easily pulled over for more protection. Here as well, VAUDE has successfully found PFC-free alternatives.
