VAUDE wins the Brand Award 2019

On May 21, the outdoor outfitter VAUDE received the 2019 Brand Award, one of Germany’s most prestigious marketing honors. VAUDE was thrilled to be awarded 1st place in the category “Best Sustainability Strategy”. Ralf Geiger, Head of Consumer Marketing, and Manfred Meindl, Head of International Marketing, accepted the award at a grand gala celebration in Düsseldorf. The “Absatzwirtschaft“, a German trade journal for marketing, and the German Marketing Association (DMV) award this prize annually for excellent achievement in brand management.

Some 1,000 guests eagerly awaited the results along with the nominees – the winners weren’t announced until the evening. Frank Dopheide, CEO of the Handelsblatt Media Group and the presenter and actress Aline von Drateln guided the guests through the evening. Prominent star guest of the gala was fashion designer and multi-talent Guido Maria Kretschmer, who was honored as the best brand personality.

VAUDE honored for best sustainability strategy
VAUDE received the Brand Award 2019 in the category “Best Sustainability Strategy”. Antje Neubauer, Head of Marketing & PR at Deutsche Bahn, presented the award to Ralf Geiger and Manfred Meindl. For years, VAUDE has pursued a consistent sustainability strategy that is anchored throughout the company. “VAUDE bases the entire product life cycle of its merchandise on the principle of sustainability – with a great deal of effort, but also with noticeable success,” said the jury.
With Green Shape, VAUDE has developed its own strict and transparent catalogue of criteria for environmentally friendly and fair products, which covers the entire life cycle of the product – from design and production to care, repair and recycling. VAUDE is also committed to high ecological and social standards in the global supply chain.
VAUDE is proving that companies can contribute to solving global environmental problems and also be very successful from an economical standpoint as well. VAUDE has been growing at an above-average rate for years in the highly competitive outdoor market. “We are delighted to receive this award for our sustainable strategy, which we at VAUDE are all pursuing with great passion. Our entire team has helped us to position ourselves very successfully as a sustainable brand. Because we are extremely transparent about all areas of our business, VAUDE is known for its high level of credibility and this is a growing concern for consumers. Now in its 19th season, the Brand Award honors extraordinary brands and ideas. The annual competition is designed to promote brand thinking and bring best practice examples into the public eye. Five applicants prevailed in the race for the 2019 Brand Award – with innovative strategies, clever ideas and courageous consistency. A total of 48 companies applied for the industry award. A distinguished jury of experts from management, marketing, media and agencies chose the winners of the Brand Award, which were announced and celebrated during a glamorous award ceremony.
