The Südtirol Gardenissima is an absolutely unique slalom for many different reasons. First and foremost is the fact that it takes place in the shadow of the massive Sasso Lungo and Sasso Piatto mountains in the Dolomites. And then there is its incredibly professional organisation that draws on 20 years of experience. But that’s far from all: at six kilometres in length, it is the world’s longest giant slalom as well as the event that best symbolises Val Gardena where it closes the ski season on April 2.

Race for final bibs
It is now just under two months to the race date but the Südtirol Gardenissima race bibs have been flying out and just 100 remain. So now the race is on to secure one of those final bibs: a few simple clicks at www.gardenissima.eu will help you do just that and become one of the lucky 650 skiers that will enjoy the privilege of negotiating the white gold of the Dolomites on the first weekend of April.

Spectacular skiing in spectacular surroundings
The Dolomites are one of the most stunning mountain ranges in the world but although their craggy rocks look unbelievably tough, their habitat is fragile and requires careful protection. This was partly why the Südtirol Gardenissima organisers are so strict about adhering to sustainability criteria that will defend this UNESCO World Heritage Site. So seriously has it taken its commitment, in fact, that Südtirol Gardenissima has been awarded Going Green Event certification by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano for, most notably, creating value at a local level, effective waste management, the use of ‘apple paper’ for printed materials, focusing on local seasonal produce where possible and, not least, using electricity produced by renewable sources.
