1551709_10152148452709481_824566071_nRespect the Mountains is an organisation that creates awareness about mountain areas and has been in active operation since 2004 and we are proud of all that we have collectively achieved. The successes can not be claimed by one partner, one sponsor, one event: it has been a truly collective community effort and for this we and the mountains are grateful. We have acted in the best interest of the mountains true to our mission, and we still strongly believe in this work. However we regret to inform you that as of September 1, 2015 Respect the Mountains in its current state will stop active operations.

At the end of 2014, when resources were already beyond stretched, the organisation invested hundred of volunteer hours into the application of a three year European Union subsidy. To remain in operation during these past months has been hugely challenging and on hearing that the organisation was unsuccessful in winning this grant, the Board of Directors decided that as of September 1st, active operations are no longer sustainable and the only way fulfill our commitment and integrity to our partners, freelancers, volunteers and community, is to cease operations in our current form.

Our Envirotrek Series 2015 will continue as planned and we are determined to make it our best season ever! We hope you will join us at this year’s Envirotrek series to celebrate all we have achieved in the past ten years with us: More information on Envirotrek events this summer: http://www.respectthemountains.com/envirotrek/

We welcome other organisations that feel that Respect the Mountains would fit under their activities, to talk to us about continuing Respect the Mountains in a different shape or form.
