Outdoor News: European Outdoor Summit, Outdoor Sales Barometer, ISPO Shanghai

Published by Mountainblog on .

indexAccording to our latest figures, the outdoor sector is still performing well and remains a strong category within the wider sports market in Europe. However, it is true that there has been a slow down in growth and as the main industry body, our aim is to further strengthen our segment and provide useful insights and tools for the sector.  In this newsletter, we would like to share some of the main initiatives that we currently have in place to foster development, namely:

  • The European Outdoor Summit – a key event for exchange at the top management level (away from OutDoor and ISPO, where we are all unfortunately often too busy with daily business to focus in long term strategic ideas).
  • The Outdoor Sales Barometer – a sales tracker that allows companies to compare their own situation with overall retail developments.  This is free for retailers to join.
  • ISPO SHANGHAI – the new gateway to the Chinese market in the summer.
  • New sustainability assets.
  • Promotion of outdoor participation.

The European Outdoor Group (EOG) and ISPO further expand their partnership. EOG will exclusively support the new summer exhibition and multi-sport platform ISPO SHANGHAI. Renowned exhibitors have already confirmed their participation.

ISPO SHANGHAI is the segment-overlapping sports business platform for the primary growth market China. It is held from July 2 to July 4, 2015 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). The forecast for the new exhibition for year-round sports is very positive. With a focus on Outdoor, Action Sports, Water Sports, Performance and Fitness ISPO SHANGHAI is receiving plenty of attention from international partners as well as the industry.

Rolf Schmid, CEO Mammut Sports and President of EOG explains his decision to participate in ISPO SHANGHAI as follows: “ISPO has always been the place where the sports & outdoor communities get together, and China is the market with the largest potential in this industry. Messe München International organizing ISPO SHANGHAI as a summer event and ISPO BEIJING as a winter event in China simplifies our structure and organization. We speak to the same contacts and can be sure that they will duly fulfill our requirements.” (more…)

Published by Mountainblog on .

eos 2015We are already looking forward to the next European Outdoor Summit. After France, Sweden and Germany, the United Kingdom is now the host of the industry summit.

Congratulations to Sheffield, the venue of the EOS in the coming year. After the European Outdoor Group had decided on the United Kingdom from among the applicant countries, the Outdoor Industries Association selected Sheffield as the EOS city. What tipped the scales in their favour besides the perfect infrastructure for such a summit was above all its nickname “Outdoor Capital City of the UK” – could there be a more appropriate place?

We look forward to seeing you next year in Sheffield! (more…)
