The whirlwind of emotions at the Naturland in Andorra, one of the 2025 HERO UCI Marathon World Cup rounds, was just the prelude of more to come! The much-awaited HERO Südtirol Dolomites will kick off on Saturday, 14 June for its 15th edition! A high-octane race awaits.
THE WORLD RANKING’S NUMERO UNOS – WITH PAEZ AND MAYRHOFER HOT ON THEIR HEELS
The start line will see an impressive lineup, with the world’s best marathon mountain biking cyclists raring to go!
Among the Elite, the men will have to face the 86 km trail. Wout Alleman is the HERO UCI Marathon World Cup’s current leader – the 29-year-old Belgian cyclist won Capoliveri and placed third in Andorra and aims to keep his top spot in the overall ranking. Representing Buff-Megamo Team, this will be his debut in the Dolomites but he doesn’t seem too concerned about it. One of the potential contenders for the crown is Andreas Seewald from Germany, representing Singer KTM Racing, who stood out for his outstanding physical condition during the race in Andorra. The current German champion was right behind the winner, Leo Paez. Paez, from Colombia, considers Selva Val Gardena his home away from home, as he’s already won the HERO Südtirol Dolomites eight (8!) times. Expectations are high for him to score another win. All eyes are on the other Italians competing, including the current Italian champion, Fabian Rabensteiner – who is in second place in the UCI ranking, and Jakob Dorignoni – both representing Torpado Kenda FSA.
With such a lineup, the jury is still out on who could win the race. The same cannot be said for the women’s race, as Rosa van Doorn seems to be the bookie’s favourite thanks to her two consecutive wins in Capoliveri and Andorra. Born in 2001 in The Netherlands, she too represents Buff-Megamo Team – like Wout Alleman – and will be wearing the 2025 HERO UCI Marathon World Cup leader jersey. The women will compete on the 60-km route – is this where Vera Looser, from Namibia, will confirm her win from the last HERO? And what to say about Adelheid Morath: she already won two HERO Dolomites (in 2022 and 2023) – is this going to be her hat trick? Even local Sandra Mairhofer, who placed second during the HERO UCI Marathon World Cup’s round in Andorra, hungers for more.

THE HERO PANTHEON
Cyclists representing 46 countries will kick off from Selva Val Gardena to show us what they’re made of on the iconic race trails: the 86 km option boasts 4,500 hm, while the 60 km trail boasts 3,200 hm, making the HERO Südtirol Dolomites the toughest mountain bike marathon in the world. This edition sees the return of the ‘new’ 71-km trail with its 4,100 hm due to its runaway success during the 14th edition.
The first cyclists – from the Elite category – will sprint off at 7:10 from the heart of Selva Val Gardena, followed by the Master category.
