mountain running

For 25 years, mountain runners up and down the country have been looking forward to the Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run. Anyone who has run through the finish line at Rifugio Antonio Locatelli S. Innerkofler at 2405 metres altitude with the three imposing mountain peaks in the background on the second Saturday in September knows why. The 26th edition will take place in precisely 150 days on 9 September.

The 2023 running season is slowly but surely picking up speed and has again plenty to offer. In the coming weeks, the athletes will mainly run on the flat and in the valley, but with the start of summer, they will be drawn further and further up into the mountains. The Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run at the beginning of September represents the end of the mountain running season – so die-hard athletes have to wait almost until the end of the running year for the big highlight.

The good thing is that there is still enough time for all those interested to get fit in time for one of the most beautiful mountain runs in the world. Everyone who now decides to take part in the Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run still has a good five months to prepare for this unique adventure in the Dolomite region of the 3 Peaks and can successfully complete the 17-kilometre run course with an elevation gain 1333 metres on Saturday, 9 September.

The route remains unchanged

After the start at Casa Sesto, the route leads to Moso, from where the lush green larch meadows of Val Fiscalina await the athletes before the ascent begins at Rifugio Fondo Valle on the selective serpentine trail towards Rifugio Comici. On Saturday, 9 September, the subsequent section up to Rifugio Pian di Cengia in 2575 metres altitude and thus to the highest point of the Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run, will once again be the defining moment of the renowned mountain run, before it continues above the Laghi dei Piani to the finish at Rifugio Antonio Locatelli S. Innerkofler.

Great starter packs and the traditional dumpling party

In 150 days, the athletes can again delight in a unique adventure and a fantastic finisher photo with the impressive rock formation of the Three Peaks in the background. Each participant also receives a comprehensive starter pack with a variety of high-quality local products – meal voucher for the traditional dumpling party on the eve of the Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run included. Almost 300 mountain athletes from all over the world have already registered for the 26th Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run. Every day, more and more are adding their name.
