In a post-event survey in 2021, the majority of adidas INFINITE TRAILS participants were in favour of an autumn date. This wish is now being fulfilled. The popular team race in the Gastein Valley is permanently changing from its original date (last weekend in June) to September to celebrate the end of the season with trail running enthusiasts from around the world. This year, the event will take place from September 9th to 11th.

The permanent change to autumn was preceded by intensive reconcilement, because in accordance with the sustainable event concept, the organizational team first consulted all interest groups and nature conservationists when setting the date. Among other things, the annual deer rut, which starts at the beginning of September, had to be considered. “We share our playground – nature – with other users but above all with other living beings and it is our responsibility to take this into account in all our decisions in terms of sustainability,” explains event director Mike Hamel. “That can sometimes take a little longer.”

After a two-year Corona break, adidas INFINITE TRAILS reported back in late September 2021 (due to the pandemic) and prepared a downright trail run bash for over 600 participants from 36 nations in the Gastein Valley. In glorious autumn weather, the stars of the scene, ambitious recreational runners and sports celebs from other disciplines enjoyed the high-class event, which focused on bringing the trail community back together in a safe environment and celebrating the sport together. The event will continue to adhere to the motto “CELEBRATE THE SPORT”.

“The last two years have taught us to be thankful for all those moments that we can share together,” says Marc Fischer, Head of Europe adidas Outdoor. “We want to create lasting memories for the trail running community and prioritize the shared experience. The special team race format of adidas INFINITE TRAILS has been contributing to this right from the start, but also our unique athletes’ garden in the Alpentherme Gastein, where the community can relax and recover in style after the race, accounts for valuable time spent together.”

In addition to 3-loop team race, three distances for solo runners

Along with the relay race of around 100 kilometers with 7,600 meters of climbing, divided into three different loops (21K/34K/44K), adidas INFINITE TRAILS offer three distances for solo runners in 2022: the spectacular 65K loop over three Gastein summits (65km/5,000m), a new 45K route and the popular 15K loop.

Registration for adidas INFINITE TRAILS 2022 opens on February 15th. For more information go to infinite-trails.com

adidas INFINITE TRAILS – #3runners – #3loops – #oneteam

With the adidas INFINITE TRAILS in Gastein/ SalzburgerLand, adidas Outdoor has created a pro-am event for the trail running community, in which the team aspect comes to the fore in a sport dominated by lone wolves. Three runners start at adidas INFINITE TRAILS as a team in the three categories women, men or mixed. Each team must cover a total distance of around 100 kilometres and 7,600 meters in altitude, divided into three different loops that consider different types of runners (half marathon to marathon): Loop S = 21km/1900m – Loop M = 34km/2700m – Loop L = 44km/3000m). To have enough racing time for all three distances in daylight, the team members start at the same time. Solo runners are also welcome at the adidas INFINITE TRAILS and can choose between three distances: 15K, 45K or 65K.
