The SALEWA Climb to Ski Camp 2013: Climb to Ski goes to Chamonix – featuring Glen Plake

Published by Mountainblog on .

Passionate freeriders should mark their calenders now for April 22-24, 2013. The third edition of SALEWA Climb to Ski Camp is set and already promising to be a real highlight of the coming winter season. This edition will head to the freeride mecca, Chamonix, and special host will be none other than freeride legend Glen Plake. Twelve young riders from Germany, Austria, Italy, France and Switzerland, all of whom must apply on Facebook, will be able to look forward to three extremely exciting ski days. Together with Glen and his buddies Björn Heregger, Martin McFly Winkler und Eva Walkner from the SALEWA alpineXtrem-Team, everybody will head off into the countryside and all around Mont Blanc.

The first snowfall means everybody is eager to lay tracks in fresh powder. Anybody who wants to experience fantastic skiing on Mont Blanc with SALEWA athletes Glen Plake, Björn Heregger, Martin McFly Winkler and Eva Walkner should video their tracks and turns in the snow. SALEWA seeks motivated, young freeriders for the SALEWA Climb to Ski Camp April 22-24 in Chamonix who must upload their videos to Facebook as the first step in the application process, which was opened in January. After that, applicants must engage their own circles to vote for them on Facebook – whoever gets the most „likes“ will move on to the next step in the application process. Salewa athletes will then determine who has what it takes to be selected for the Climb to Ski Camp 2013. What awaits participants? Glen Plake says: “It’s all about skiing with me and some of the other SALEWA athlete’s. We’ll have a blast climbing up the slopes and skiing back down. So get going and sign up! Because if you don’t sign up, you can’t go”.

This is the third edition of SALEWA Climb to Ski Camp in 2013. In the last two years, up-and-coming riders and athletes have met in St. Anton on Arlberg in Austria. All participants have said that the ski days together have been not only pure skiing and riding pleasure, but also lots of fun, resulting in new friendships and valuable experiences. Alex, 26, was especially impressed by the team spirit of the international group: „We had a blast, heading to the mountain together to find some great descents. There was never a bad mood or any kind of rivalry, not for one single moment. In the evening we all hung out together happily and swapped stories about our experiences”.  Arnaud Cottet, one of SALEWA People from Switzerland, also had a positive report: “Over the three days we
had the chance to share our mutual passion for freeriding with riders from all corners of Europe. Every one of us is going home from the camp with new experiences”.
