Catch The Basque Fever: Gorbeia Suzien Arrives This Weekend

This Saturday, the Merrell Skyrunner® World Series travels to the heart of the Basque Country for the Gorbeia Suzien, the 19th race of the 2025 season.

Known for its mix of brutal, technical, and muddy paths, the 32-kilometer course features a demanding 2,400 meters of vertical gain in the beautiful Gorbeia Natural Park. The passionate Basque fans are guaranteed to be a huge factor for the athletes.
The race promises to be another thrilling battle, with many top contenders from Grigne SkyMarathon, last weekend, making a quick turnaround to compete. ⅔ of the Grigne men’s podium will be at the start line – recent winner, William Boffelli and 3rd place Dimas Pereira. In the women’s field, we are looking at some of Spain’s leading ladies, Marta Martinez and Naiara Irigoyen, as well as the Swiss newcomer Maria Christen. And as usual, there will be a host of strong Basque runners, ready to give the internationals a run for their money on home soil.
